Tailgating, also known as "piggybacking", is the act of an intruder following an employee into a secured area as the door closes behind him.

Tailgating is a very tough problem for many companies to solve. It comes at the intersection of human behaviour, employee culture, and technical access control technologies, and requires ongoing cooperation of the entire company in many cases.
